Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents, Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson both lawyers. The couple moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five, where she attended the Dragon School. Emma was aware of her desire to act from when she was six years old. She was trained for several years at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts. This part-time theatre school taught her dancing, singing and acting. At the age of 10 she was performing and taken the lead in a variety of Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. The casting process began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone 2001, the film adaptation by J.K. Rowling's bestselling book. Casting agents stumbled upon Emma through her Oxford theater teacher. After eight consistent auditions David Heyman revealed to Emma and Rupert Grint (other applicants) that they had been cast in the roles of Hermione Gringer, Harry Potter, and Ron Weasley. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's film debut. The film was the most popular film of the year in terms of weekend and opening-day sales. Critics have praised the film, and the performance of its actors who were just starting out. The widely read British newspaper, 'The Daily Telegraph', called her performance "admirable". Later, Emma was nominated for five awards for her role in the film. She won the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in an feature Film. Emma was a star after the success of the first film in the series. She continued to perform the role of Hermione Granger for more than 10 years in all of the subsequent Harry Potter films: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) as well as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011). Emma acquired two Critics Choice Awards nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for her performance in Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban and Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire.
