Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was created in Miami, Florida on the 30th November 1977. American electro house music producer, D.J., and record producer Steve Aoki is his nickname. Music executive. He is the son of Rocky Aoki and Chizuru Kbayashi. His father was a wrestler who also founded the chain of restaurants Benihana. He has 2 older siblings, sister Kana (who is sometimes called by her middle name Grace) & brother Kevin (owner of the Doraku Sushi restaurant). His half-sister's model and actress Devon Aoki. He was raised in Newport Beach and graduated from Newport Harbor High School with the class of 1995 with a B.A. in badminton. He was a student at UC Santa Barbara and graduated with a 2nd B.A. degrees: one of which was in feminist studies, and the other in sociology. In his college days, he recorded self-made records and hosted underground concerts out of his Biko room in the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch was born as a venue for concerts. He was active in student activism and established an Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League section on campus. In his early 20s he was running his own label, that was called Dim Mak. The name is a reference for the idol of his youth Bruce Lee. In March of 2010, he dropped I'm in the House, a collaboration w/ the Zuper Blahq-like alter-ego of the Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am. The song was ranked No. 29 on the U.K. singles chart in its first week. The song later made it onto the U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, being among the top 5 in both charts. The song was featured in the MTV series Jersey Shore. It also appeared in Piranha the feature film Piranha, and the trailer for Think Like A Man. Producer and songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in a May 2010 interview w/ HitQuarters that he and Rivers Cuomo had recently worked w/ Aoki on one song. He was named the top-grossing dancer from North America by Pollstar in 2012. His collaborations with artists include Afrojack, LMFAO and Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS, Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vici and Fall Out Boy. He is known for his remixes of artists such as Kid Cudi.
